APCE AND TURESPAÑA SIGN AN AGREEMENT TO PROMOTE SPAIN AS A CONGRESS DESTINATION
The Spanish Association of Convention Centres (APCE in Spanish) and the Spanish Institute of Tourism (TURESPAÑA) have reached an understanding which has led to the signing of a collaboration agreement for the promotion and capture of events abroad for the same to be held at APCE member venues.The signing of this agreement will allow several joint promotion and publicity activities to be carried out on an international scale, with a budget that will be shared by both parties equally. CONVENTION TOURISM IS MORE PROFITABLE THAN THAT OF CRUISES.
People who come to the city to participate in a congress, normally of a professional nature, will spend on average between three and five times more than those tourists who come ashore from cruise liners. This figure is taken from the most recent reports carried out by different specialised institutions in the convention sector. These sources put the daily expenditure figure of convention participants at between 200 and 300 euro in the cities where they are staying.[+]

SITE VISIT BY THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION
Practically the entire Municipal Corporation, led by the Mayoress, made a site visit with the architect of the project, Patxi Mangado, and the Manager of Palau de Congressos de Palma, S.A., Mateu Crespí. Currently, there are over 100 construction workers on site, the hotel rooms have been divided as far as the sixth floor and the show-room has been completed.[+]

THE COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTS VISITS THE PALAU SITE
A large delegation from the Balearic College of Architects, which includes architects from Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza, visited the facilities at the Palau de Congressos de Palma, S.A. yesterday. They were accompanied by Patxi Mangado and were very impressed and satisfied by the development of the work.[+]
